I’ve finished upgrading my PowerBook to Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). Everything went very smoothly; I was expecting trouble with some applications that have been reported as slightly incompatible, but everything seems to be working fine. The OS feels a bit snappier, but not in a mind-blowing way.
Mail.app is much improved; I now prefer it to Entourage, so I’ve moved all of my mail into it. I’ll be training the junk mail filter over the next week; I’ll post a followup on that.
As far as I can tell, the other shining star in this release is Sherlock. Not that it does anything that I couldn’t do previously over the Web, but it does get a lot of information that I need often under one convenient roof. I suspect I’m going to be using this very often.
One point worth noting: the upgrade took a long time, close to an hour. I don’t have that much stuff on my TiBook, considering I’ve only been using it for about six weeks. What gives?
Jaguar is here. Can’t wait to get it on my machine—next time I post it will be from the new OS! More to follow soon…
