Prentice Hall experiments with Open Publication License

Steal This Book? A Publisher Is Making It Easy Prentice Hall is publishing a line of computer books under the Open Publication License which allows people to copy, modify and redistribute works. [via New York Times: Books, registration required]

Another interesting book published recently with an alternate license is Cory Doctorow’s Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, a science fiction novel set in Walt Disney World. Mr. Doctorow has made the book’s content freely available for download. (I’m planning on getting the printed copy; a Powerbook is to large to curl up with.)
