
Jacques Derrida—“the father of deconstruction” - is dead. When I studied architecture (late ‘80s), it was assumed that Mr. Derrida’s work was a prerequisite to any serious thinking about architecture, so we read quite a bit of it. (Not that we understood it all. :) ) I have a great respect for people who dare to question the fundamentals of the world around us, and Mr. Derrida was one hell of a questioner. NY Times obituary.
