On tools...

"#3 pencils and quadrille pads."

- Seymoure Cray (1925-1996) when asked what CAD tools he used to design the Cray I supercomputer; he also recommended using the back side of the pages so that the grid lines were not so dominant.

I do a lot of work in Open Office: all of my writing, most deliverables, anything that I'll PDF and send to someone, or that someone else won't have to open.

Otherwise, it almost plays nice, but not quite.

However,m I very ,uch prefer it's Draw application in place of Visio. It's as fast and intuitive as OmniGraffle, but works on the PC. Plus it has all of the Visio features I use.

What it's lacking? The ability to link objects in Draw with the built-in database functionality. Now, that would rock.
