Hi-I would really like to buy a Reader but I live in Tokyo and I cannot seem to find any website that will ship outside U.S. That seems really weird to me.

Hi Debbie, you are correct—the Sony book store is US-only for the time being. I haven't attempted to buy books there... I'm using the Reader primarily to read Project Gutenberg books, which can be freely obtained from a variety of places. There are thousands of titles available. (I recently read Moby-Dick, which I loved!)

The downside is that there are few new releases available; most of these books are out of copyright, and therefore quite old. (The flipside: it's a treasure trove of classic literature—Cervantes, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Joyce, the works.)

I've downloaded PG books in Sony-friendly format from these sites:

http://www.mobileread.com/
http://www.feedbooks.com/

This thread on MobileRead has a list of other sources for Sony-format books:

Good luck with your search!

Interesting. I also got the Sony reader for Christmas but have found that I can not download any books from ebook_sony. Since I am with the US State Dept and stationed in El Salvador they tell me I must live in the US to download. Have you had this same issue or found a solution. Thanks
