After many months of toying around with various potential designs, I have finally finished the first major redesign of jarango.com in over two years.

This redesign has two main objectives:

1. Giving more prominence to the weblog. It used to be buried in a subfolder, and is now the homepage. (This means I gotta get more disciplined about posting daily!)
2. Moving to a completely structural, CSS-based design. Folks with older browsers might have problems with this, but it makes the site ready for future developments.

I’ve always treated jarango.com as a laboratory for experimenting with web technologies that interest me, and this redesign is no different. I hope you enjoy it.

I’ve been looking for a while for a new tool to manage the content in jarango.com. Recently, I’ve been playing around with Radio 8.0, but have found it a bit inflexible.

On Friday I ran into movabletype.org while reading Kottke. After a surprisingly brief installation process, I have found bliss! The most pleasantly surprising thing about this software is that the programmers have seemingly thought of every feature a blogger would want and have coded it into the tool. Top quality work. As soon as I’m done customizing the interface, I will be making my donation!
